Context

About sleep apnea and respiratory.

Sleep apnea — repeated breathing pauses during sleep — is strongly associated with obesity, particularly neck circumference. Symptoms include loud snoring, daytime fatigue, morning headaches, mood changes, and high blood pressure.

Mechanism

How diet helps.

Weight loss is the single biggest intervention for sleep apnea. Anti-inflammatory eating helps asthma and inflammation-driven respiratory conditions. Light, early dinners prevent acid reflux that worsens nocturnal symptoms.

Include

Foods we build on.

  • 01Anti-inflammatory foods: omega-3 fish, walnuts, flaxseed
  • 02Leafy greens (magnesium, antioxidants)
  • 03Berries, citrus (vitamin C, antioxidants)
  • 04Light, early dinners (reflux prevention)
Limit

Foods we step away from.

  • ×01Heavy late-night dinners
  • ×02Alcohol (worsens sleep apnea)
  • ×03Excess sodium (worsens BP, swelling)
  • ×04Pro-inflammatory foods: refined carbs, trans fats

Before you book

Frequently asked, honestly answered.

01Will I still need my CPAP if I lose weight?
Often yes, but at lower pressure — significant weight loss reduces apnea events and CPAP requirements. Some clients with moderate apnea become CPAP-independent after weight loss.
